At the end of last year the Executive Board approved the creation of the Local 784 Training Fund. It is similar to our Health and Welfare Fund in that we are looking to add employer benefit contributions (.5%) to every contract to fund it and we will have trustees from both the employer and union side.

To date we have the Training Fund benefit in four of our contracts and that list is growing as we negotiate new contracts. Not only is the list of employers growing but so are the contributions ($78.00 to date). With the recent addition of the SF Opera as a contributor, we can now begin building the Board of Trustees.

Would you be interested in serving as a trustee? This would be an exciting opportunity to look forward at the educational needs of the local and create a program that would extend beyond our current Apprentice Program to provide greater work opportunities and leadership skills for our all members.
